Mission: The Displaced
Location: USS Arawyn
Timeline: Now

-----Engineering---

After looking at the ship, Lelina contacted Commander Batenburg. "Commander, I have done preliminary scans of the ship and it's...it's extraordinary. Some of the data I can't make heads or tails of. I can't identify the cause of the rupture from these scans alone. I think it would be better to investigate the ship more directly."

At a nearby console, Science Officer Quinn glanced up from the telemetry streaming across her display. She had come to Engineering to pull the deflector-array phase logs—data she needed to analyze how the subspace rupture had interacted with the alien vessel during transit.

“Lieutenant, if I may,” Quinn stood up. “I’ve been studying the rift’s effect on the alien ship itself. The rupture left a specific harmonic distortion pattern on its hull, and Engineering’s phase-compensated sensors were the only systems capable of isolating it."

She tapped a key, highlighting a faint void inside the diagram of the alien vessel.

“I’ve isolated a region inside the ship that doesn’t register on any of our scans. Not shielded—just… displaced. Whatever the rift did to the vessel, it altered that section in a way our sensors can’t resolve. We'll need to examine that area directly."

"As long as we don't get displaced ourselves," Lelina said, but her excitement at exploring the new ship was growing. "Permission to send a small party to investigate the ship, Commander."

--- Bridge ----

Corbin had only just gone to her ready room when the call from Engineering came in. She listened intently to the information from both Lt Evans and Ensign Quinn. She understood their excitement for wanting to go exploring, and part of her wanted that too. Yet there was risk. A lot of risk. "Permission denied for now, Lieutenant. That doesn't mean never, it means we need much more information and also coordinated information. Captain Corbyn has asked me to set up a senior staff meeting. That call will go out as soon as we are finished." She paused a moment. "Continue the scans, and gather information, the more we know the more chances of convincing the Captain. Lieutenant. Batenburg out."

Lelina made a disappointed face. "Well, dang it. All right. Let's see what else these scans can tell us..."

Suzanna tapped her comm badge, "Batenburg to all senior officers, report for a briefing to the conference room Deck 1 in 30 minutes. Latest reports on the ship and its occupants are expected there."

--- 30 mins later in the conference room ---

Suzanna strode into the conference room, behind the Captain, and took her seat to the right of Corbin. One by one the other senior officers came in. it had been several hours since the alien ship had appeared and for her part, she had more questions than answers, even when trying to keep up with the interim information from the various departments.

Once all were seated, and Corbin nodded to her, Suzanna spoke. "Who wants to go first with their report?"
