- Stellar cartography complex
- Sensor analysis centers integrated with Tactical
- Planetary probe control suites
Laboratories are modular and reconfigurable for mission-specific research.
Operational Doctrine
Exploration
The Science Division conducts:
- Long-range stellar surveys
- Planetary classification
- Pre-colonization environmental analysis
- First-contact scientific assessments
Tactical Support
Due to the Sovereign’s combat-oriented design, the division maintains enhanced threat-analysis capabilities:
- Rapid anomaly classification
- Sensor countermeasure analysis
- Subspace distortion mapping
- Borg and Dominion-era adaptive response modeling
Science personnel are cross-trained in emergency procedures and damage response.
Duty Rotation
With approximately 200 personnel, the division operates on a three-shift rotation:
- Alpha Shift: Primary research and command presence
- Beta Shift: Ongoing experiments and survey continuity
- Gamma Shift: Monitoring, anomaly tracking, data processing
Critical labs may operate continuously.
